Our environment does not allow print direction, and so a universal printer driver is used, which works fine in mstsc.exe outside mRemoteNG.
We are using TSPrint as the driver and this thread seems to offer a possible solution:
Per TS Print's support staff:
"Thank you for contacting us.
Any third party RDP solution including mRemoteNG, must be configured properly to enable third-party plugin DLLs. For TSPrint there are two requirements to use these devices:
1. Clients must use the RDP ActiveX client (Terminal Services Advanced Client TSAC)
2. The appliance must be configured to enable the TSPrint plugin DLL, TSPrint.dll.
Unfortunately we don't have the documentation form mRemoteNG, so I suggest to contact their support for such steps. "
Please write me back at rbudrick at hot mail dot com on how to implement this (or let me know if it cannot be). Or, can it be implemented via the External Tools feature?

Other universal drivers tested also do not work, such as Uniprint.
